Mixed Chair Orders: A Packing List to Check Before Container Booking

Short answer

Build the packing list around each model, configuration and carton type. Reconcile chairs, cartons, separate accessories and shipment readiness before asking for a loading plan. A combined CBM total helps plan a shipment, but does not confirm that mixed cartons fit or that every model can be ordered in the requested quantity.

A furniture shop may want several models in one delivery. An office project may need task chairs and visitor seating together. The useful next step is a shared packing record that lets the buyer, production team and forwarder discuss the same order.

Our office-chair and gaming-chair pages help you choose product directions. Their photographs do not establish a common carton size or confirm that different models can share an order. Keep those decisions open until the selected versions and packing are checked.

1. Freeze the assortment before calculating the shipment

Give every model and colour its own order line. Include the base, armrests, upholstery and any footrest or powered option that changes the supplied version. Do not combine two versions just because they share a product photo.

Record the intended use alongside the quantity: dealer stock, furniture-store resale, office installation or another commercial project. Then confirm each model and colour minimum, whether consolidation is available, and when every line will be ready. One large total does not automatically meet the minimum for each selection.

  • Use a dated configuration reference for every order line.
  • Identify separately packed accessories and service parts.
  • Confirm whether a late model holds the whole shipment or ships separately.

2. Use one packing row per carton type

The table below is a blank briefing sheet. Request the actual values for the selected order. For a chair packed in more than one carton, label the carton types separately and state how many of each type make one complete chair. A cartons-per-chair arrangement cannot be calculated as if every carton contains a complete chair.

Ask for photographs of the packed components and carton marks. Keep model and carton identifiers consistent across the quotation, packing list and receiving instructions.

    3. Reconcile complete chairs as well as total volume

Check ordered chairs against complete packed sets. Count loose spares, sample cartons and accessories separately so they are included in freight planning without being mistaken for additional saleable chairs. Confirm the pack for a partial final carton instead of assuming it is full.

For each carton type, use its external dimensions and gross weight. Add the volume and gross weight of all lines, including any pallets or outer protection that will travel. The existing CBM guide and calculator explain the arithmetic. This guide adds the order-control checks that a volume total cannot do.

    • Reconcile quantities by model, colour and complete set.
    • Record the measurement unit and whether dimensions include outer protection.
    • Retain the packing-list revision and the date the measurements were confirmed.

    4. Ask for loading evidence for this combination

A previous single-model container count is not a loading plan for a new assortment. Carton shapes, permitted orientation, stacking, weight distribution and unloading sequence all matter. Ask the loading team and forwarder to review the booked equipment against the actual packing list.

Keep the order status explicit: preliminary volume estimate, proposed loading layout, or record of an actual completed load. Do not label the first two as physical loading verification. If an order includes a powered chair, identify the actual power configuration and obtain route-specific acceptance before adding it to a booking.

    • Confirm what may be stacked, rotated or placed under heavier cartons.
    • Check door access, protection and any unloading constraints.
    • Agree who updates the plan if carton measurements or quantities change.

    5. Make receiving and shortages traceable

Use carton numbers or a clear carton-type code so the receiving team can match delivery against the final list. Include assembly instructions and hardware identification with the agreed pack. Ask how shortages or damage should be documented, including the carton mark and affected component.

CBI's chair guidance recommends packing to the importer's specifications and considers nesting, stacking and flat packing. These are options to assess for a particular chair, not proof that our pictured references support every packing method. Review protection and assembly work together before choosing a smaller pack.

Use the carton damage and hardware guide for the inspection checklist.

    • Agree the final packing-list owner and revision.
    • Keep the approved packing photographs with the order record.

    6. Send your assortment for a packing review

Send the selected models or reference images, quantity per model, intended business use, and destination country or port. We can start by checking the configuration and information needed for a packing review. Prices, minimums, mixed-order acceptance and shipping arrangements are confirmed for that requirement.

For office projects, begin with the AD-E1 reference or conference-chair selection. For retail assortments, browse the gaming-chair category. Include the model names when you use the inquiry button.

      Request a bulk-order quote

Send the model, estimated quantity, business use and destination. MOQ and mixed-order availability are confirmed for the selected configuration.

      Buyer questions

Can office and gaming chairs share a container?

This needs confirmation for the selected models, quantities, timing, packing and export arrangement. A combined CBM total alone does not confirm acceptance or fit.

Does a product photograph establish packing size?

No. Obtain the outer dimensions and gross weight of the final production packing for the exact configuration.
